Veterans Day
Ceremony and Rocket Launch
Sunday
November 11, 2007
9:00 am Flag raising at Burlington Town Common
10:00 am Veterans Day Ceremony at Pine Haven Cemetery, Bedford St., Burlington
Immediately after the ceremony, Cubmaster Chet Maguire invites all scouts and parents to join him and his family to set a wreath at the grave of Chester Maguire, Sr. located around the corner from the ceremony. Mr. Maguire, who passed away on June 7th, was a veteran of the Korean conflict and a Burlington Police Officer for 30 years. He also served for many years as a scout leader in town.
11:00am (approx) – 2:00 (or when we run out of engines and or rockets). Rocket Launch at Francis Wyman Elementary School on Terrace Hall Ave.
Please bring your completed rockets to the launch area. Pack 105 will be providing the rocket engines, launch pads and supervision. It is important that all scouts follow the leader’s instructions as there is always a degree of danger when dealing with model rocket engines. You are also instructed that there will be NO tree climbing to retrieve misguided rockets.
We suggest that you bring a picnic lunch as the activity should last a while with the amount of rockets we hope to launch.
We recommend that you park at the school and walk up to the ceremony. There is a short trail that leads from the left corner of the field to Laurel Lane. Laurel Lane is approximately 0.1 miles long and leads to Bedford St. directly across the street from Pine Haven Cemetery.
