Racing Car Specifications:

·       Width: Overall width shall not exceed 2 ¾``

·       Length: Overall length shall not exceed 7``

·       Weight: Weight shall not exceed 5 oz.

·       Details: Details such as steering wheel, driver, decals, painting and interior details are permitted as long as they do not exceed the maximum weight, length and width specifications.

 

General information:

·       Each car must be from an official Cub Scout pinewood derby car kit as issued by the pack.  No other kits will be accepted or allowed to race. If additional kits are required, they can be purchased at the scout store located in Woburn.

·       Each vehicle must pass inspection and not exceed the above mentioned car specifications.

·       There will be a pit area to make any adjustments in meeting the specifications.

·       Any washers, bushings and bearings are not permitted,

·       Only those axles which are provided in the official scout kit will be allowed on any car.

·       No starting devices of any kind will be allowed.

·       Only graphite can be used as a lubricant.

·       Wheels may be sanded to remove burrs, etc., but may not be machined to reduce the width of the contact surface.

·       Vehicles which do not meet these guidelines will not be allowed to race.

 

Procedure:

·       Bring your car to the Fox Hill school cafeteria according to the above schedule on February 9th, 2008.

·       The vehicle will be weighed, measured and checked for track clearance.

·       Once the car has passed inspection it will be placed in the pit area for racing.  The vehicle can not be altered once it has passed inspection.

·       Each scout who enters will receive a patch.

·       The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cars in each age group will receive a pinewood derby medal.  The 1st place car will be eligible to race in the finals.

·       In the finals trophies will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th places in the pack.
